Re: chinatown: pete & gwen
I'm just trying to keep you informed. [All innocence, like he was actually concerned about being helpful. No ulterior motives whatsoever. But Peter liked seeing her smile and he liked hearing her laugh, and he figured after all this crap with Harry a little lighthearted teasing was a good thing. Besides, he had to make sure he hadn't lost his touch. Maybe he wasn't the most hilarious guy out there but he prided himself on being moderately humorous, at least.
Okay, he so hadn't expected to actually get through to her. Not even a little. Progress!] Did you just say I'm right? [He grinned, but it was more him being genuinely pleased than him making a joke. As for moving, he just shrugged.] Who says I'm not supposed to? It was my choice. Besides, there's crime in England. [The smile that accompanied the words was a little more playful, and he wasn't really sure what she was conceding to by agreeing that they were different than the other versions; but hey, it was something.] Hey, being weird isn't so bad, right?
[He laughed when she said she was the carousel police; he couldn't help it.] Uh-huh. We'll see. [But he was kind of really distracted by how close she was, and how she sounded distracted, too, and the new sprinkling of glitter on her nose. She was talking, saying something about... her job? Focus, Peter.] I'm not stealing. Borrowing. I'm borrowing your job. [His gaze so totally dropped to her mouth when she said he should maybe kiss her, he couldn't even hide it, and screw playing it cool. That ship had sailed far, far away.]
For science. Right. [Okay, shutting up now. And the best way to shut up was, of course, to kiss her. A little more chaste than their first kiss on the rooftop years ago, but oh man his stomach still did backflips.]
