Re: Silent Hill: Wren/Evie/Luke/Jack
[They were all running, but when Wren broke off from the rest of them, all he could do was speed up and follow. He tried to ignore the things at the edges of his sight, gathering along the edge of the road as if waiting for a parade to pass, things from the other side of the mirror with familiar voices, gape-mouthed apes with rows on rows of sharp teeth, keening figures that writhed, imprisoned in their own flesh, and one familiar woman who dogged after his every step. He could feel her toe catch on his heel sometimes, but there was no one behind him when he looked.
When they skidded to a stop, Luke clung to Wren, and Evie threw rocks at her phantom. Jack tried to get his bearings, but when he first took a look around them, a pair of small white hands covered his eyes. He shifted, turned - no one.
But there. Not too far up the road glimmered the windows of what ought to be the resort, based on the map. Maybe it was a trick of the light, or his own mind, but it almost seemed as if someone had left the lights on. He hardly heard Luke insisting Wren stay put or be killed, or Evie shout at her haunting.] There. [He kept his grip on Evie and tugged her carefully from the apparition, waiting for Luke and Wren. The resort. Better a destination than more running through a hellscape with no clear goal.]
