Re: Mayflowers: Max and Solas
"You order your friends around? We have something in common." She watched his face as he looked at the phone, and she wasn't surprised when he didn't know what technology was. She wasn't surprised, either, when the music made his eyes go wide and interrupted whatever he'd been about to say. The way his ears swiveled reminded her of a dog tuning to sound, but she didn't say that. The ears were obviously off topic.
She took the phone back, and McKendrick warned her about tea. Max didn't have tea. She didn't drink tea. There was no tea. She'd considered a tea or smoothie bar in the shop, but she hadn't looked too seriously into the permits she would need, so there was no threat of accidental tea.
"What's the deal with the tea?" she asked. If McKendrick said it was a problem, she believed him. He was the nerd, after all. As for the phone, she chuckled before tucking hers away. "Sure. We can get you a phone. It'll annoy my friend."
She had no idea why she was humoring this elf. She had no idea why she was even still talking to the elf. The entire elf conversation had gone from being hilarious to being beyond her understanding. "There's a stand down the sidewalk. We can do one of the pay as you go deals." Fifty bucks wouldn't kill her, and she went behind the register and pulled some money from the til before telling the older employee that she'd be back in ten.
Money in her hand, she held a twenty out to the elf, and she motioned toward the door. "In case you need it. Come on. We have to be quick. I'm Max, by the way."
