Re: Fashion District: Clementine & Holly
[The skepticism just made Clem grin, but it was a short-lived thing, and she handed the baby her cellphone to gum when she started getting fussy. Remembering not being wanted, that wasn't something Clem was interested in doing any. She'd put that real far behind her, and she just waited to see if the little girl asked a thing about brothers-in-law or men with real nice apartments set up for girls they liked looking at. But she didn't.
She asked about being good instead, and Clem was really hoping there wouldn't be arguing ahead; folks liked to tell her she was something better than she was, and she was real sure that was just their own need to believe folks were good.] I just ain't. I don't care about you, honey. I don't care about most folks. I care about me. I'm not real interested in saving the world. I'm interested in saving Clementine. [Dick had been a problem on that account; crimefighters, they were real do-gooders.] Mr. Wayne, he likes saving folks.
You should always be you. Just a more expensive version. [She motioned to her own pink sweater, cut real low and snug and bright as could be.] I wouldn't wear something quiet neither. Spent a lot of time with Graham and Shane wearing plaid, and I won't wear a damn plaid thing unless it suits me these days. [Mostly it didn't, except when she was trying not to come across as competing any.]
You pick what you like. Anything here's going to be a sight better than what you walked in wearing. [A new line of clothes rolled in; colors.]
