Re: log, marvel: pizza party at harry's
[Awkward would probably always be a word used in one's vocabulary when describing Peter Parker, at least for the foreseeable future. He couldn't help it. But MJ was cool and effortless where he, well, he wasn't, but he was learning. Slowly. And as much as he pretended to be immune to the redhead's charm, that wasn't totally true. She was there, and she was so familiar. That hair, that smile. And she looked glad to see him, which was nice.
So, when she hugged him, of course he hugged her back. She was his best friend, why shouldn't he? Pete didn't squeeze her as right, but there was relief in the embrace all the same, and he was proud of the fact that the feel of her fingers in his hair didn't make him blush. Progress, Peter. Progress.
Bruising wasn't really funny, but he couldn't help laughing a little as she exclaimed over the state of his face.] Nobody got my lunch money, MJ. [He hesitated, though, about telling her the whole story.] It's... kind of complicated. [Gwen's arrival saved him from saying anything further, and he watched as she greeted the redhead and grabbed the pizza box. He felt like he should say something, but... what? Besides, she was just dating Jason. Pete figured he was allowed to hug a friend.
And oh, boy, speaking of Jason the vigilante wonder boy. (But it didn't bother him, that he was Gwen's new boyfriend. Really. So not bothered.) There were footsteps outside the door, which Pete pretended he didn't hear.]
