Re: Batcave: Cat & Bat
"I could get your money without marrying you," she said simply, and she meant every word. Even with the world becoming a series of blurs around the edges, she still had absolute faith in her abilities. Oh, soft, maybe, and Eddie and Ivy had both mocked her skills, but there was a difference between not being interested in robbing Gotham blind and not being able to.
She expected him to keep teasing, but there was more serious in his tone than not when he said he wouldn't ask for a prenup. She looked at him long enough for her eyes to focus, a deliberate waiting period that was all constricting and dilating black in mossy green. "Didn't everyone tell you not to trust me, Mr. Wayne?" They had. She knew they had, and the quieting voice of dissent was just a lull; it was always just a lull.
But his comment about Zatanna was so innocent. She chuckled. "I didn't exist in your world either," she reminded him. Not at first, and she turned with a hard-fought sway of hip. "Just bring me something to make me feel better." Hand on the cave's stone, and she looked over her shoulder at him and forced an unworried smile. "I'm kicking that dog out of bed if it's there."
