Re: Batcave: Cat & Bat
She didn't mind it, though she'd never admit it. In a world that was changing much too fast, his predictability was reassuring. But maybe that was always the case? She was fickle, never sticking with anything long, and much too interested in her fun. But he was always there, black and stoic in cowl and kevlar. Maybe she liked that about him. Shhhhhh. Don't tell.
But she knew he didn't like her little plan, and so she wasn't surprised at all when he agreed to wait. Admittedly, without Eddie around to encourage her bad behavior, well, it didn't seem quite as imperative. Funny, that, and she missed the green man Eddie hgad been at Halloween; bottles and candor in the bottom of a glass.
She scoffed at his question about the prenup. "Word has it we stayed married until I died, so, no. I have to believe I would've left you at the altar, penniless, if you implied I was only there for the Wayne billions." Toxin honest, and she watched his face when he talked about Iris. But she was better at hiding that jealousy than she was at hiding her annoyance with fishnets. "Oh, Mr. Wayne, she is the old flame." But for all the clawing and hissing Selina did, she never went after his little women, did she?
She looked down at the hand that covered hers when she stood. She had trouble focusing on his fingers, though she was sure she could pick them out of a lineup. She stared and, oh, she stared much too long. "Maybe just a nap," she conceded, slipping her fingers from beneath his. "I know the way," she assured him. "Let a cat keep a little of her pride, Bruce."
