Re: Batcave: Cat & Bat
"Oh, Mr. Wayne, don't you know better than to tell me not to do something often?" Even through the haze of her vision, the smile was playful. The longer she sat there, the more the poison made itself at home in her veins, the less her anger surfaced. Or maybe she was just too tired for it - who knew? Being nice, it just didn't seem as important, and she didn't care who didn't like that.
But he was right about the quiet. Once things started up again, her opinion on the Families might change entirely. They would always be her albatross. Her past, where she came from, and of course he cared. Whatever the Gotham, this man would feel it was his job to take care of it. She was the one who was inconstant. Oh, she had her own morality within the grey, but she was fickle. This was no different, no exception. He said they could find another way, and she was fighting off shades of mob houses outside Gotham. The window, the door, and his suit wasn't a suit at all. She rubbed her eyes. "We'll wait. How's that? I probably shouldn't be making any decisions when I can't tell what's real, what's not." Understatement, possibly.
His question about the prenup got him a very arched brow. Really? "Making me sign a prenup would be a very, very bad idea. I'd just be cranky at the implication that we were temporary, and all the more determined to rob you blind." Ah, that reminded her. "How did Iris look at the service? And I noticed your old flame is back. Has she come purring with her fishnets yet?"
As for that hiccup, she noticed, but she let it slide. She made a sound of agreement about checking on the little riddled man. No point in rousing that anger again. She looked over her shoulder when he asked if she could make it upstairs. "I'm not that bad yet." She stood, and she walked over to him. Still mostly steady, and she looked over his shoulder a moment. "Let me know once you have something." Casual. Oh, so casual. "I'll be around."
