Re: Batcave: Cat & Bat
"Oh, you would didn't want me there. Trust me." She meant it. Honesty in the red that suffused her cheeks, and she exhaled hard as she leaned against stone. "I'm not feeling very charitable. Do you ever get tired of it? Being nice? Being supportive?" No, she wasn't feeling well, and she wasn't feeling kind. Oh, she understood grief. It wasn't that. She understood it perfectly well. And maybe she was riding on the edge of that loss, and this on top of it? It wasn't helping.
"Eddie's different. Did you notice? He avoided me, and I finally got him to talk to me, and he's different. He and Stephanie are both still hating on a newborn, and they're so angry." She shook her head, and she dragged the heel of her palm through her dark hair. "Ivy? Ivy said I wasn't me, and I'm utterly tired of hearing that. Gone soft, she said."
His fingers found her cheek, and she hushed for a moment. Mossy green eyes regarded him, and she managed a sigh that wasn't vitriol. "I'm sorry Helena didn't come." But that took work. Angry, she was so angry. She closed her eyes. "I feel sick, and I'm seeing things that aren't there, and I'm so angry, Bruce," she said honestly, and then she looked at him again. "She's not trying to kill me. It's a game."
