Re: Gotham: Iris and Joey
[A breath escaped her mouth in a frozen fog as she let out something that almost resembled a laugh. There was more air to it than sound, but it was more of a reaction of amusement than she was prone to.] I would hope that you wouldn't be trying to, if you've been told who I am. [The decrease in temperature made her shelter farther under that brotherly arm, but she cut a glance over at him with a wrinkle of frown between her eyebrows. He was maybe "getting filled in", but she was convinced that there were things he was missing. She knew that he was still Joey, but that he wasn't the same as the one she'd spoken to before. And she wanted to believe that he would still treat her the same, but (aw always) she worried.
She followed along as he led the way, streets familiar but surprisingly not as much as some of the streets on the other side of town. But she was aware enough to know that none of the places around here likely belonged to Joey himself. The confession of staying with someone else made her nod. She knew how that worked. She'd been staying with other people for a very long time. She knew how to walk through the building like she belonged there, even though she was very aware that she didn't. The same way she was aware that she didn't want to tell Joey her 'story'.
The mention of Shane made her shoulders go even tighter and her steps hesitate, obvious in her flinch at the name. Bit that flinch was there and gone again as she nodded, eyes pale as she looked at Joey again.] I'm glad. It's good that he's looking out for you. [The words were sincere even if the tone faltered, but she nodded and stepped through the door into rooms that were more familiar than strange in their style and wealth.] Are you doing alright? You haven't been here very long, have you?
