He added a tablespoon or so of sugar and just enough milk to pale the coffee from black to brown.] I hardly see how that's relevant. [His voice was dull, his eyes on the mug of coffee. He considered asking Cris if he had anything stronger to tip into it, then thought the better of it. Whatever was going on here, he wanted to hear it sober.
He sipped at the coffee, grateful that it was warm and a little too sweet. That seemed about right.] It's been a long day, as you can imagine. I'm fine.
