Teresa would be up from her nap soon anyway, Elena needed to plan out dinner for the little girl. She watched the man rise with his cane, but Elena herself did not get up from her chair to assist him. She'd worked enough VA hospitals to know that accomplishing painful or difficult actions on one's own was a sense of pride.
