Re: Marvel: Max & Ella
[Max laughed when Ella said she looked good, because Max didn't think old looked good on anyone, including her. But it was a compliment, and she'd mellowed in recent years. She didn't tell her sister the compliment was bullshit; she just chuckled and finished ringing up the remaining customers.
It was quieter when the afternoon shift walked through the door, and Max locked out her register and gave the girl (a college student, by the looks of her) Ella's register to work on.
Then, she motioned toward the back of the shop, with a grin at the suggestion that Amanda could hold her own. Could she ever.
The back room was open, and the girls were visible from the chair Max dropped into. She motioned to the one opposite, in case Ella wanted to sit. The space was small a few round tables, a few chairs, a lot of flowers everywhere. Supply room meets bistro, and Max pulled one of those smokeless cigarettes from her pocket and tucked it between her lips.] Fill me in.
