Re: Marvel, SVS office→Staten Island: Louis D & Cris M
For some reason, Cris knew locusts could, and would, eat meat, but, outside of other insects, if they weren't dead already, they didn't really go for it. Swarms were mostly harmful to plants. Of course, only once they cut open the bugs and examined the remains inside would they be able to tell if Matthews was alive when the locusts started in on him or not. But that wasn't what bothered Cris.
His expression was serious, black-lined, when Louis turned to him. He scratched at his chin.
"I've never seen anything like this. And the only thing I can think... is... maybe someone's got... there are people here with powers. Could one of 'em gone after him? I heard there was something with that place—Oscorp—an explosion or something that ended up with people arbitrarily developing... powers—controlling weather, that kind of thing." It was clear Cris couldn't believe he was actually positing this as an option, but he couldn't think of any other way the body would have deteriorated so fast. Ten hours, and with only a dozen of the locusts thus far? That wasn't nearly enough time for it to have gotten anywhere near as bad as it was. The pieces, the normal ones, just didn't match up, and this was the only thing that he could kind of force into a bigger picture.
