Re: Marvel, SVS office→Staten Island: Louis D & Cris M
After nearly a decade of undercover work, Cris was a skilled liar. He glanced at Louis when the man looked at him after his halting admission of not knowing where his sister lived. It was clear he was trying to make himself okay with the nondisclosure and was generally failing.—Cris' reaction to the eyes gone hard on him wasn't overblown or over-bland. He shook his head.
"I don't know. We met in the hotel. Neutral ground." The car slowed as they drew nearer to the park and the roadway became a bit tricker to navigate because of all the cop cars clustered overeagerly along the curb.—Shifted into park, they stopped, and Cris tugged the keys from the ignition. He looked at Louis before he opened the door. "But, I hope you're right. If she hasn't told you, it's unlikely she's told anyone else."
And that was that. The coffee was abandoned in the cupholder and the detective moved, ducking beneath the police tape. He flashed his badge at the men and women who glanced their way.
