Re: Manor: Bruce & Selina
"He is," she said of Gordon and his tales of children. "Apparently he sent me to live here with you. How completely insane is that?" Her sleepy grin said she liked the idea, and she didn't bother concealing it from him. It was a risk, this, but it wasn't going to work if she hid everything from him, and she knew that now. "We could always visit the door Eddie gets all his information from, see for ourselves." Gotham was home, but she didn't mind getting away every once in a while. It wasn't the same as leaving, as abandoning it, and she'd finally come to terms with that.
He said he hadn't spoken with Helena, and she was quiet for a very long time. The subject worried her, and she was concerned she'd make a mess of things when they were calm and quiet-warm, but she ultimately sighed. "I contacted her. I wanted to check on her, but she ignored me." Hurt slipped through that words and poured itself upon the bedsheets. "I wasn't surprised." She tipped her head up against his shoulder, and she looked at him. "Bruce, I know she and Damian hated me, and I suspect they fed each other's anger, but I don't want to go up against Helena, and I don't want to make things difficult for her. She might go, so I shouldn't. In case. Damian would want her there more than he would want me there, and we both know that."
But then he mentioned Iris, and she went absolutely still, quiet, unmoving, and a second later she curled against him again, eyes closed. "Of course not." A beat. "But be careful? She was being too secretive about who she's been staying with."
