Re: Manor: Bruce & Selina
He'd used to think that the others were exaggerating, when they compared him to the other Bruce. Now he knew better. Maybe he had no right to judge the other versions of himself. Maybe their lives, while similarly defined by one moment, had deviated afterward. Maybe the things that made the other Bats cruel and hard hadn't existed in his world. But, all the same, Bruce was glad he wasn't like them. After spending so long thinking he needed to be them, it was nice to finally accept himself for who he was. Finding acceptance in others was an added bonus. "I'm glad," he said, pulling himself out of his thoughts. "I like who I am." Simple, but true.
Maybe it was domestic; he wasn't sure. But he wanted her here, he wanted her to stay, and those things mattered more. He exhaled something like a laugh when she thanked him for inviting her, teasing him about the bed, and he let his arm slide around her waist. "I do," he agreed. And, when she kissed his jaw, he could have just left it there, but he didn't. He tipped his chin down to catch her lips in a kiss of his own before she could pull away. "I don't make it easy for people." It was a candid confession, something he recognized in himself. "You being here is enough. But the puppy was a nice touch."
As for the puppy's size, that was true, too. "I know. Alfred will be thrilled."
