Re: Gatsby, apartment: Robert/Selina
I just remember it because he told me that was why Pepper was upset. And that's where I should have learned not to get involved. [Bruce shrugged and waved a hand.] Not what you think. He more or less told me to mind my own business about Pepper. I wanted to push him a little more, because we were sharing other things, but I don't want to make his life harder right now. He'll talk when he's ready. [He smiled wryly.] I was the one closer to yelling at him after you left.
[Bruce chuckled.] It's not a requirement, it's a perk. [Bruce shuffled his feet, which was a usual sign that he was walking on uncomfortable topics for him. That, hunching his shoulders, and clearing his throat, all clear 'Banner doesn't want to talk about it.' But he was going to answer.] I'm never harmless. What happens to me happens to him. I promise, if you see the clips, you'll understand. I just hope you never see him in person. [It was bad enough that Betty did, especially when she loved him regardless. It should have been comforting, but it wasn't.] Fine we can go with wolf. It's canine. Being homeless is an easy way to get around a city without drawing attention. People don't look close at a bum. I could hide in plain sight when I needed to.
[Bruce picked up a few pieces of white rice and flicked them at her. It wouldn't stain her robe, they were clean, it was just making a point. And joking.] Pride is overrated. What if I told you I did need you? I could come up with reasons. [He gestured around the place the same way she did.] None of this is good enough for you. I don't like it. Do you need an apology note from everyone, because I can make that happen.
