Re: log: dylan & max (daniel & lin too)
[Leaping onto Dylan's back like some rabid sugar glider was a plan that was only slightly more ill-advised than Dylan's haphazard escape plan for Daniel. He heard the bathroom door fling wide and the mission was promptly aborted, that was decided in the moment before Lin grappled onto him from behind. Instinct didn't die, not after most of one's life had been spent living through snap-crack decisions that frequently toed the line of life and death. Dylan wasn't thinking about Lin being Max's brother or Daniel's significant other. The only thought that burned like fireglow in Dylan's quiet brain in that moment was survival.
He wedged a fist under the tight flex of one of the arm's around his throat, shoved past to the thick of his arm and twisted so that drawing a decent breath wasn't an issue just before Dylan slammed the both of them back against the wall. Lin, meet the metal towel rack, the sturdy one for handicap assistance. Dylan drove back once, twice, eyes glazed like survival even when Daniel started yelling in panic.
It was Max's voice that brought Dylan back. His chest heaved, gathering oxygen to make some sense with it. There was a gun pointed at him, and that didn't help the hammering of his heart, but it was Max's hand with the gun and it was Max's voice that brought calm instruction. Dylan eased up straight, letting Lin collapse off of him so that he might check on Daniel or whatever it was that people who cared about selfish fuckers did in dire times.
What Max said made sense, a part of him knew it, but most of him didn't want to listen.] He's a grown fucking man, he can get to bed on his own. [He'd gotten out of it just fine when escape seemed viable. Besides, Lin could help, the scrawny but deceptively strong little bastard.
Even with Max's gun still raised, Dylan moved past her, he collected his backpack and exited the cramped bathroom just about the time that the nurses were responding to the panic button.]
I'll be outside [The mutter was for Max while the pair of nurses came nearer to check on Daniel, who they must have assumed slipped while preparing to shower. And then, with the backpack hitched on his shoulder and a bad mood darkening his eyes, Dylan headed out of the room, out of the corridor, toward the exit.]
