Re: Gotham: Selina & Holly
Death was something that dropped by the orphanage and the street corners every once in a while to remind everyone she was still kicking around town. But death? Wasn't Holly's bff and she didn't talk to her like she was. She didn't jump all the way over to death because the bat-family? Were the heroes here. Gotham might have turned its cheek and it might have forgotten all the saving-people thing they had done, but the bat-family were heroes, and at the end of the story, if the heroes died, the story sucked.
But Selina didn't stand there, in full cat regalia and say we won. She didn't say anything, except that come when you need to, and okay. Yeah, that was cool. You didn't share safety unless you were really sure safety wouldn't be taken away from you, you didn't tell someone a hiding place unless you were damn sure they wouldn't show up when you needed to hide really badly.
By the time Selina reappeared, she'd shucked the sweatpants and wriggled into her own jeans. She wasn't going back to sleep cuddling kittens any time soon and she figured all that quiet meant something.
"Did someone get hurt?" Holly's voice was quiet and it was steady. Hurt, people could come back from. Damian had hurt Selina, and Selina was standing there, in denim and black and had come back from hurt. She figured maybe the Bat, or maybe one of the Bat-family. Hurt was fixable.
