Re: Gotham: Selina & Holly
Holly woke the way people did when it counted, all at once in a cold-water wash of suddenness. She blinked, once and then twice and she scooted the cat from her lap gently because black exhaustion strode in like actually this sanctuary belonged to someone else who needed it more right now.
She didn't think the mobs were terrible: she'd spent too long under some safeguard or another to think they were awful and the people she met working? Were nearly all connected but that didn't make them bad. The heads, yeah, maybe but Damian had cut off the hands not the heads and the hands? All they did was what the heads told them to.
But black walked in and Holly uncurled and she'd balled her dread up in her stomach like wadded paper, until it sat there like a weight she could forget for just right now. Her face was even and her eyes were clear and now she missed the stupid cat on the other side of the room.
"Yeah. Thanks for letting me crash, this place is awesome." Nonchalantly, like it hadn't been because out there wasn't safe, like it hadn't been because Damian had run the mobs into rigidity.
