Re: quicklog, gotham: wayne manor
[Couldn't sleep did sound more likely. Given the state of the boy's body, Alfred would be surprised if any of them had a restful sleep. Maybe the others, the ones from the other worlds and generations of bats, were more desensitized to the violence, but he thought not. At least not when it concerned their brother. Nobody seemed unaffected.
But apparently, this wasn't the first time.
Cold shock hit Alfred, and for all the weird things that had happened over the past couple of weeks, death and returning to die yet again left him completely speechless. Where did he start with that? His posture straightened to help him refocus. He had so many questions about how Damian had died before, about how it was possible to return, but he also wasn't sure if there were answers to those questions, or if he wanted to know them.]
You lost your son twice. [Alfred rephrased, sounding stricken on behalf of Bruce. He didn't believe for a second that the man who had dragged the destroyed body here, denying the death in his own arms, had let anybody die.] That's the worst pain, sir. Let's not pretend otherwise. [His voice was overly firm so it wouldn't shake. At least they'd made it to the real subject, though.]
