That's a hard question to answer. I think like any parent and family, they wanted to find a way to save him and get through to him first. And that means he did more damage than if he was stopped from the get go. I'm sympathetic, but there's still dead cops, dead innocents, unrest with the mobs and the citizens, and Gotham's faith in its protector is broken. I don't need to point that out to Wayne, because he knows, and he'll put all that weight on himself. I trusted him to eventually take care of it, but not soon enough.
