What would he know about being normal? Normal to Wonderland was ridiculous everywhere else. So maybe this was normal. Alice wasn't normal. Hatter squinted at her. "No one's normal." It was a word that never made much sense to him. Normal compared to what? Who made those rules? He hated rules and words that had specific meanings he couldn't get around. "Your hair, it's shiny. It looks like a mushroom." He meant the color, their mushrooms were giant in Wonderland, in all shades of colors.
His eyes widened and then a bright smile flashed across his face. "Those are my moves!" Hatter didn't regularly have people trying to be him, so that was fun. He blinked when she started to choke, but maybe that's how she was supposed to swallow. "I had a twisty straw at my table, but drinking from a teacup with it isn't fun. My lips got swollen." He chatted comfortably, as if they were old friends catching up, talking about lips and choking on straws.
