Luke stared. He wanted to ask what; what Thomas had done, what he could do. But he knew better, and so he didn't. "Oh." He left it there, because he didn't know what else to say. There was obviously a lot going on that he didn't know about, and he wasn't going to. Max probably didn't know either; even if she did he wasn't sure she'd tell him.
He blinked when the flame went out, but it was Thomas' question that made him sit up, some of that guardedness slipping back in. "What do I want?" Luke thought for a few seconds, and shook his head. "No. I'm not unhappy." It wasn't a lie. As for what he wanted... "The things I want that are possible, that I can have, I already do," he said. He had a family. He had Wren. He had a job he liked. Those were realistic, tangible things, and he had them. He also wanted absolution, he wanted to undo what he'd done, but he couldn't have those. They weren't worth mentioning.
