Re: [Brandon Shipping]
Silence had always been kind of unnerving in different ways, and there were few exceptions. But even though it meant just that, silence following the lighter's click, Luke didn't answer right away. The lack of yelling helped, and there was really nothing in Thomas' words that made him defensive. Not enough to snap, anyway. He wasn't saying he didn't care. And maybe Luke could see how, in some weird Thomas-y way, what he was saying would make sense. Not necessarily to the rest of the world, but to himself. Thomas had his own brand of logic.
Suddenly, he decided to sit. Some people thrived on confrontation, fed off violence; he just got caught up in it. Luke really didn't want things to turn ugly, and he thought maybe if he sat, too, it might curb the more aggressive parts of his anger. "I didn't know. I didn't... see it that way." Surprisingly, his tone wasn't all that accusatory. Not like it had been before. "I think it's pretty obvious I made some bad judgment calls, but-- I think it's also pretty fucking obvious that we weren't on the same page."
