It was something of a test, her question, and she leaned back in the chair as she awaited his response. Under different circumstances, Becky wouldn't have bothered wasting her time on this man. She'd have moved on, drifting from this world to the next, but there was something about Jonathan that kept her there. It gnawed at her, why that might be, and she didn't like not knowing.
"I see." Passing time. She could understand that. She studied him, attempting to ascertain whether or not he was lying; she didn't think he was. And then he said she looked familiar, and oh, so many men had used that line on her before, but coming from him it felt different. It felt right.
Seconds passed, and she leaned forward, a lock of hair slipping past her ear. "Do I?" She paused. "I think I knew a Jonathan, once." Her voice turned wistful. "Before I was Betty."
