She didn't dare disagree because he was right. They had weathered worse storms, and they would be okay. The pain, the sadness, the bad stuff wouldn't last forever. She had vowed to him only a few months ago that they would last forever. That she would be his wife forever, and that their love could stand the test of time. And, it could, certainly. She knew it could.
Steph didn't shy away from the vow, leaning into him as he spoke and feeling the great loss of him when he stepped away. As he chased after Frankie, she took a moment to steel herself. She could do this. And maybe he was right. One day the answer could just come to her, and she would be able to make a decision about all of it. A moment, and she jogged behind Eddie, boots echoing on the floor. When she caught up with Eddie, she took his hand, grabbing the foil wrappers from him to bunch them up before twining their fingers together.
"I still love you. I'll always love you. I'm still your wife," she murmured, keeping a look out for Frankie, or rather following the trail of candy wrappers on the floor.
