Re: nashtons - old gotham run-in.
The faint smiled flickered now and then, but she tried not to dwell. She tried not to begrudge people their happiness. Who wasn't to say that they didn't deserve it too? Just because Eddie and Steph probably worked longer and harder to get what they wanted didn't mean everyone else should be begrudged. She tried to remind herself that Babs and Dick deserved the happiness they were getting, too. They had worked hard, too. Maybe they didn't want the baby she was going to have, but hopefully it would bring them happiness. And maybe Eddie and Steph would just have to find happiness somewhere else.
She almost said that to her husband as she leaned the side of her head on his chest, but she didn't get the chance as Frankie waltzed over with his pillages of the gift shop. Eddie probably knew that too anyway. Even if they wanted this but couldn't have this, they could still be happy, right? Lingering for a moment, she followed after the boys and then let the little Gesati drag her wherever he wanted, pleased that he wasn't rebuking her affection. That he was giving it to her as if he knew that she wasn't one hundred percent okay.
Steph stayed close to Frankie as he gawked at the squid, crouching down next to him. "Your Uncle Eddie and I have been on top of almost every rooftop in this city, even if he doesn't like it very much at all." She pulled a face at the little boy as if she was making fun of her husband, even if it sounded fond. "But he's gotten too tubby now, probably. I think Ted wouldn't like him climbing up on him." She ruffled his dark hair. "Tell me a story you know about Ted, Frankie."
