Re: In-person: Luke/Wren
If I'm willing to believe I'm interesting, then you can believe you're good. Or you can at least try. We can both try. [It was hard to stay still while his fingers traced her lips, and she knew that it would be harder and harder to leave with every second that she stayed there with him. He said they could find other things to do, that they weren't bad together, and she wanted to believe so much. It was all over her face, that desperate, desperate want for things to be okay, for things to be different this time. She wanted to believe that he liked her. She always wanted to believe that, and so she let herself. Just for a little bit, she let herself.
Her smile stayed when he said they could change how long it had been since she'd tormented him, and her toes curled a little bit inside her shoes.] I'll be careful. I promise. [The quick kiss, stolen like it was, was probably the best thing he could do to make her feel wanted, and his breath against her mouth was like life, like living again.] Find somewhere nice? Okay? I'll call you as soon as we're back.
[It was a little time apart, and maybe that was cheating, since he'd said he didn't want any. But it wasn't a break, and that kind of made all the difference. When he stepped back, she looked at him a second longer, and then she ducked out between the shelves, a tiny smile on her lips.]
