Re: In-person: Luke/Wren
[He was comprised of guilt layered over guilt, and while it might fade he knew it would never, ever be gone. He wasn't good at absolving himself, not like he was with her; he rarely ever held her responsible for anything. She was good, in his mind, and always would be. Not even this could change his opinion. But his guilt wasn't for the people he'd killed. No, he didn't care about them. He didn't care about the men Wren had killed, either. The guilt manifested from doing something wrong, from the conviction that he was a murderer and, too, for those left behind. And as for Wren, he just worried about her getting caught. He'd do anything to keep that from happening, absolutely anything, without hesitation.
It was reassuring, that she didn't pull away when he sat beside her. His anger cooled even more when she rested her cheek against his shoulder, and it was encouragement enough to slide an arm around her. As tempting as it was to just sit there and hold her in silence, he made himself talk.] No one's going to find out it was you. [Hushed, too low for anyone but her to hear.] I won't let that happen. [He turned to look at her, thumb brushing over her cheek.] Are you okay?
