Re: eddie/steph - bathtime.
[Stephanie shot him back a pointed look as he laid out the rules, a twist of her mouth that was all play. Truthfully, she was a little excited to see the upstairs part of the apartment. A piece that years and years after dating and living together she still hadn't seen. Obviously, she couldn't have ever even had dreamed of breaking into the room if she tried her hardest, even if he could stroll into her office whenever he fancied. So, she was intrigued. He could see it in her face, in the way her blues glinted a little, but she was playing cool, okay? All he got was a pointed look and a twitching grimace, and a well? in the quirk of her eyebrow.
She shivered at the temperature drop, wrapping her arms tight around her middle and wishing he'd told her to get dressed first before going on this little adventure. But, despite the discomfort, she took each inch that she could in a sort of slackjawed awe that he saw when she found something endearing or astounding or surprising. Before, of course, she could have imagined what it looked like, but it was just really goddamn cool.] This is fucking awesome. [It wasn't just feeding into his ego, and clearly she wasn't bothered by the erratic layout. Just amazed as usual at how smart and wonderful her husband was. She smiled at him, even if he was being serious.] I can see how you could practically run the entire city from here.
[Flopping into the chair, she brought her knees up so that her feet were on the cushion too. Chin resting on that groove between her knees. She didn't speak after that, even when he brought that folder up to the screen. A bite of her lips and she looked over her shoulder at him before turning back. Steph remembered months ago asking him to look into the daughter she'd given up for adoption at sixteen, but truthfully, she never thought she'd get to the point where she needed to look into her. She thought it'd just be something in her past. That she'd have her family with Eddie and everything would be okay. Funny how things actually work, right?
After a moment's hesitation, she clicked on the folder and pulled open the folder. In it were a collection of files and a couple of jpegs. She clicked on the first one, basic adoption papers for a Olivia Hart by Lily and Joseph Hart. Closed, like Stephanie wanted all those years ago but which she kind of regretted now. Then, the second file had present information. Where they lived -- a beautiful, upper middle class suburb outside of Metropolis. What her parents did -- a stay at home mom and a dentist. And then the pictures. It took Steph a moment of courage to click on them, and each revealed a school or class photo of a blonde girl with a bright smile and missing front teeth. There was no mistaking this was Stephanie's kid. Not just because of the blonde hair or blue eyes, but that glint of mischief in her eyes along with that optimism that was so Stephanie Brown.]
She looks really happy. [Whispered as she rubbed at her eyes to stave tears that threatened to fall. She looked back at her husband after a moment with a gentle smile.] She's got a good life, right?
