Re: log: lily & james & hiding harry
[James would have to have a gifted imagination if he thought that wide smile was charming anyone in the room. Even one of the elves, normally quite hospitable, gave him a dose of forehead wrinkling. If house elves had eyebrows, there certainly would have been a raised one pointed in James' direction. Which, naturally made Lily smile because any jab against James was good currency for a grin. She was still smiling when James eased in beside her -- maybe a year ago she would have crossed her arms or crossed the room with rolling eyes bright and indiscreet, showcased wide like a marquee for her annoynce, but now she looked at him with thoughtful consideration. She tilted her head and observed the plate of scones studded with tart, red gems. As James spoke, Lily crumbled a corner loose from one, and despite her prior denials of hunger, she took a bite. Lily did so hate to be left out of things, even events of minor significance like late night scone snacking. She was admittedly glad that James had also come to the conclusion that they were not to die any time soon in this new timeline. They were not to be victims of fate like in the past. Even so, she gave him a humorless glance, which was quite severe even when she was busy pushing fruity bits of pastry into her mouth.]
Its not that. [She said upon swallowing. She didn't wish for James to think her so superficial that her sullenness might be attributed to a decrease in popularity and the girls she'd grown fond of over the years. Lily was determined to be mature and unaffected, or that had at least been the aspiration.]
Not just that. [She conceded to a bit of the truth, inherently aware that James wouldn't poke at her for it or make her feel selfish. Here she was pouting over girlfriends when many others were just as out of place as her, just as without.]
Knowing what everyone else went through even after we were gone, I just feel protective of them, and its strange. Even Sirius. [Said with a slight smirk of disbelief, she'd never thought she would feel so much gratitude to Sirius Black.] And.. Severus. [Deep breath, more scone eating, idle lift of eyes above them as she contemplated.] I suppose I must forgive him, musn't I?
