Re: Comm: Dick/Selina
[The beep is surprising, but she listens. It's quiet up on the escape as she waits for Bruce.]
She said she wanted people over there to respect her for herself, not because of Bruce or I.
[Exhale.] She was good in Marvel. I told her I was proud of her. I contacted her to thank her for helping me. She told me I would never be her mother. It's fine. Maybe that other Cat was heads and tails above me. I can't say I'm very maternal. I try, but I fail miserably. [And a sigh.] Dickie, it's alright. It's always going to be a problem. Damian doesn't want me around either. Even the people who do like me have caveats about where I'm allowed to fall on Bruce's list of important things. Why should she be any different? The only difference is I'm not walking out of Bruce's life this time, not unless he wants me gone.
[And she has to grit her teeth about the spewing hatred thing.] I had a huge fight with her when she hit Bruce, knowing he would never hit her back. She claimed no one tried to help her. That he didn't try. And then she publicly called me out for being a whore on the journals. It's been a long road, and I'm done walking on it. I'm sorry, she treated you that way. I am.
But, this? This thing she did? It wasn't just childish and spoiled, it risked Bruce's life, and she doesn't respect anyone here enough to be part of a team. If the JLA taught me anything? It's that sometimes people are stronger when they work together. She made us weaker, and she'll never, ever admit it.
