[Marvel: Tony/Pepper]
[The nice thing about Thor was that his methods of transportation were fairly rapid once the big guy made up his mind to go. He set Tony down at a neutral location that Tony described far upstate, where there were mostly just woods and weeds to watch the spectacular return of Tony Stark to his home world. Once there, Tony took stock of the situation and then called in a suit. He had a number of suits hidden over most of North America, and there were a few more hidden in a slightly more illegal but no less secure fashion everywhere else.
It took about forty-five minutes for the suit to arrive, set in passive mode so that it simply landed in a subtle wash of sound and waited for direction, rather than attaching itself to Tony in pieces, which would not have been the best idea in his current state. Tony didn't trouble to really assess his physical state other than to determine that walking unassisted was a new accomplishment, and his plans to be an Olympic high jump medalist would need to wait. It was a difficult business getting in the suit, but there was nobody but a few moths and an owl to watch Tony stumble into the exoskeleton and make the necessary adjustments between a few resting pauses.
He let JARVIS set the destination and had him flip the suit calibration so he could lie on his back and take a very strange nap on the way into the City. He woke up and put on the brakes, cruising onto the penthouse landing pad at a very modest speed, and landing with incredible gentleness on his toes. JARVIS locked the knees so he didn't fall, and some internal supports kept his torso upright. It felt like he was being hugged by a couple enthusiastic metal bands, but it worked in the short term.
He had JARVIS looking for Pepper before he had even made it to the glass doors, walking slowly and letting the pneumatics do all the work.]
