Re: In-person: Clark/Lois
[So far, today had been a win in Lois Lane's book. There were like three stories here, and she was chasing every last one. She'd told some rookie at the Planet to get off her lawn, and she had a camera filled with great shots (probably blurry, but she wasn't a photographer). She was working on an exclusive with a Gotham villain, and someone said they were Nikola Tesla on the magic journals, and Gotham was insane. Oh! And the sewers. There was some cannibal mermaid in the sewers. Somewhere in all of that, there had to be a Pulitzer. Had to be. No doubt about it.
She didn't actually think the cop would shoot. She had witnesses, a camera, and a digital pic being sent out to the world. He'd go to jail forever if he shot. General Lane would march his ass down here and sit in the trial, and the evil cop wouldn't ever polish his badge again. No worries, and all good.
But then Clark moved. Like an idiot. And what was he even-
Snap.
The camera took a picture of something, but fuck if Lois had any idea what. Everything was happening too fast, moving too fast. She heard the gun discharge once, twice. Movement, blur, what? And then the ground, and had Clark just pushed her?
She looked up in time to see him turn. Yep, she was on the ground. She looked around the shop, because there had to be someone else here... somewhere... where?
The woman behind the counter was thanking Clark's shoulder and-
Wait. WHY?
She swatted his hand away.] What just happened? What just happened?
