Re: Looking for Jack: Evie/Wren/Luke + Jack
[Luke wanted to insist that he drive, but he didn't. Arguing would just waste time, which they didn't have much of to begin with, and he was really in no mood to argue anyway. He wasn't thrilled about this. He wished Jack had just stayed at Stark Tower, but he hadn't, and maybe it was stupid and dangerous but it just wasn't in him to leave the other man out there and hope for the best. That wasn't who he was. Everybody knew that.]
Okay. [Just like that, and he figured he and Wren would take the backseat. But oh, no, she slid into the passenger seat without even looking at him; great. Just great. Now she was pissed at him, and he was childishly mad at the world, and he really just wanted to scream. He didn't want to leave her alone, that was the last thing in the world he wanted. And he didn't want to die, either, but Jack was like his brother, and there was a small chance they might not get sick. They might be okay. They had to be, really, because there was a huge difference between risking his life and risking hers. He hated that Wren was coming, but there was nothing he could do.
He felt like he should say something. He started to, but she was looking forward and maybe now wasn't the time. So he shut the passenger side door without a word, and maybe he shut it a little too hard, but whatever, and he climbed into the backseat in silence.] Xavier managed to get his location. [He rattled off an address, curled up against the window, and very pointedly stared outside. Real mature, he knew, but he felt like he was forced to choose between abandoning Jack and putting his life at risk and it wasn't a fair choice. Besides, Wren was already mad; apologizing wouldn't make a difference now. He'd make it up to her later.]
