Re: log: bruce/jason
[Whatever Bruce had been expecting Jason to say, it wasn't that. For a man who was so adept at keeping his emotions hidden his surprise was clear as glass, allowing no doubt that he hadn't known. Did Selina even know herself, he wondered, or had she just not wanted to worry him? Radiation poisoning, and a weaker immune system was the last thing she needed now. It would only worsen the effects of Crane's toxin. He grappled with the revelation, tried to understand, but the resounding question continued to remain unanswered; how.] Radiation poisoning. [Repetition didn't help him comprehend it any better.] Do you know how? [As for Banner, he had a vague sort of respect for the man's abilities but, because of Selina, there would always be a thread of tension--even hostility--between the two. They would never be friends. And, too, he hadn't forgotten what she'd said about Banner's judgments. To be judged by someone who knew him was one thing, but to be judged by a stranger? No, that was something else.
And maybe there was a hint of bitterness, too. His involvement in Gotham, his closeness to the people there, while Bruce himself struggled to gain their acceptance every day. But that was neither here nor there.]
She will rest. [Of that, he was certain. Selina would be doing nothing but resting once this was over. Once she was back in Gotham, home. Where she belonged. Of course, if she wanted to stay in Marvel that was her choice, but somehow he didn't think she would.] Does Banner know? Does Selina? [An important question, he thought. But all that paled in comparison to the fact that she was sick now, that she was trapped in Marvel with the clock ticking down, down, down. He closed his eyes, briefly, letting his crippling worry wash over him for a moment before he shoved it back down and locked it away.
He approached the computers, gaze running over the screens, and he hated the helplessness of doing nothing, of being ineffective, as much as Jason did.] You look tired. [An offhand remark, coupled with a glance in the boy's direction.]
