Re: In-person: Teddy/Vic
[Teddy smiled a little when she mentioned how lovely her mother was. Rather than being an expression of joy, it was just something to combat the sadness that lingered in the absence of her voice. Survivors learned how to do that, balm hurts. Children of war grew up perfecting reassuring smiles for the parents who'd lost too much. He'd never felt ache in silence, but with Vic it seemed loud.
Her question made him draw a breath, and he could taste the sea in it. It'd been a long time since he'd been this close to these waves, or it at least felt that way. He knew that, to her, it'd been even longer since he'd been here to share the sand underfoot and the stickiness that the seaside brought to their held hands. Palms touching without question, because she only need reach for it and he was there.]
I remember. I thought those were such happy times. [All year, he would long for oceans and summer. Forever, he'd associated his happiness with the waves.. but maybe, even when he was small, itd only been about being next to her.]
