Re: Log: Iris/Hatter
She remembered the table, had been there before for what had seemed like long months but had only been days once she'd returned to Gotham. It was different and the same, all at once, and though something about it was strange, she recognized the table as his. The table, the fence, the hedges that she'd never been past. Her heart was still racing, and her breath still came fast, eyes bright as she looked over and laughed. It felt silly, like being children - at least what she remembered of childhood before the world went dark on her. After that, it had been doctors and exams and experimental treatments for her eyes. But before, she remembered being outside, laughing with her siblings, before.
She smiled as she drew a breath to tell him, that running and laughing brought back a memory that was good, but he was closer when she turned. He was closer. She was following the gentle tug forward, blinking as she tried to figure out what was going on. It didn't make sense.
It made less sense when she felt the pressure against her lips. Eyes still open, unfocused, too close. She didn't know-- She breathed in almost sharply, startled. Oh, kissing. Her mind went suddenly blank at the identification, and her eyes closed. Her heart continued to race. Her mind started to rush again, thoughts twisting around each other even as her body took over the physical and kissed him back. It had been... a very long time since she'd been kissed. Since... A man who had torn apart her family, who was more monster than human. A different man she'd bought off a stage, wild under the guise of humanity. The thoughts were accompanied by the taste of something sharp on her lips, something that shot straight through her mind and, for the briefest moment, everything fell into distinct order.
Her eyes blinked back open and she turned her head to the side just enough to break the kiss. With a softly reluctant sound and a whispered wait. She didn't move back, just stood close to him with her face turned to the side, still trying to catch her breath.
