Re: Great Gatsby: Jude/Clem/Shane/Graham
"I found lots of pictures of Lore in mine," she said of her storage unit. "You can have them, if you're inclined," she told Graham, in case he didn't have any of his own. She knew, based on what Shane said, that he didn't need pictures to remember what Lore looked like just now, but she was still offering. Someday, maybe, he'd stop seeing ghosts; he'd be wanting the pictures then.
She was pretending, but she knew Graham real well these days, and what Jude said had rubbed him wrong; she could tell easy. "I'll eat something later, Jude, honey," she said, and that had nothing to do with this here encounter. She didn't want to eat in front of folks just yet. She'd done it some, but she was real self-conscious of her looks, and she just wanted darkness and hiding, and it was real bright outside. "I don't like the sun, sugar. It makes me squint," she said, explaining it away, moving back further into the doorway in as she said it.
When Graham added that bit about having folks to take care of, she knew what it was in reference to, and she closed her eyes just a moment. "Jude knows I want to go with you, Graham. I told him in the hospital, but I think he's inclined to have you stay here instead." she almost asked them not to go arguing; she couldn't deal with arguing. Her nerves, and her hand fluttered nervously as she checked her hair for strands gone loose in the summer breeze.
