Re: Batcave: Bruce B, Gwen S (Carnage)
"I know he isn't insane. We've talked at length, he has clarity. But I can't convince him he's clear headed, no one can now. He's convinced there is a sickness in him, and that he has to purge it to become better." Bruce rubbed his forehead, away headache, away. "It's denial, in a different way. Maybe a part of him believes it absolves him, like if he 'cures' it, it means he can be 'normal' and change." Normal and cure both had quotation marks around them, made by his fingers. "I understand that." Only Bruce knew his responsibility. He knew that the Hulk's choices were his choices, and he couldn't escape the guilt. Jason was young, he was damaged, he was afraid, and this struck all of the wrong chords for him.
"He was, until we figured out Otto. The problem is getting him through the hotel and to there, without letting him loose in Marvel too." They had problems of their own there, and he already annoyed Steve. He could explain that it factored in; if they went to Marvel, Carnage would follow her, and it would be their problem. Which is probably should be, but it was not an easy decision. "If we can find a way to do that, or make something similar here, but that would take time."
Bruce didn't argue. He agreed. It was. "I told him not to think about it, and he chose this, he knew the dangers and that we trusted him. We can deal with that part afterward." There was a scolding coming after the initial relief. He made a very bad call, and people were dead because of it. He hoped Jason would feel that guilt ad responsibility, and not brush it off. As for the Bats. "Sometimes people take a break, they get overwhelmed, it's difficult around here. But their timing sucks, they leave their world at the worst of times. I've wanted to get away, but I don't leave if it's clear I'm needed more back here." This was an example, and coming back for Tony.
