There were plenty of books in the library and textbooks galore, but they couldn't give him the experience he needed. They could take photographs, but it didn't show healing, only parts like human beings were the same as cars, here is your transmission oil (liver biopsy), here are your intake valves (lungs), here is your clogged engine (heart). If he saw any more pictures of lungs or hearts or diagrams of the different layers of epidermis, he was going to set the offending book on fire. As it was, he wasn't going to be able to eat fried chicken again, not while the skin was still attached, but on the upside, now he knew about the glands in the brain (pineal and pituitary), their locations and their major functions.
Not a lot of help on fixing a stab wound, but he was fairly sure that he knew how to trigger the pituitary gland to trigger or relieve an adrenal gland response. Maybe. Possibly. He knew where they were located. But the other parts? No clue and he needed to know. There was no stopping to change his clothes (white button down shirt, sleeves rolled up his forearms, gray slacks) , or shave (a hand scrubbed over his face told him that he had close to two day's growth on his cheeks) but he did grab a mint before heading out of his door and into the hotel.
Crunching it between his teeth, the bright spearmint taste making his nose scrunch as it laid siege to his mouth, he followed her directions towards her door. And, like she said, there she was, door open. "Hey, hi."
