Re: Wonderland: Hatter/the Cat
Hatter loved all things strange and different. It was a product of Wonderland, it was the drive to swirl around in the stars, even if the stars were in his eyes and not always in the sky. He knew every step in their world, and none at all, he often found himself turned around and learning things all over again. It could be his madness, oh, but it could also be true. A world of twists and turns and irrational beauty. The Cat was very Wonderland to him. He didn't like humans much, they were nice, but they were fleshy and mortal and bleated on about things Hatter didn't understand. He liked Alice and Riddle Man and Iris, but they were strung through with red that spilled out and tasted terrible in his tea.
Kitty was full of cruel promises and riddles, and he never said the same thing twice, except when he did because he had reasons, and reasons that weren't boring old reasonable. Hatter's smile was all teeth and flash in response, dimples flaring to life, and he purred loudly with all lack of subtlety when the Cat dragged him closer. When in Rome, something something something. "I was going to go somewhere and I forgot. Adventures. But they're so far away from the table."
He twirled around the Cat and rubbed his back in a petting motion, dark eyes unfocused on the sky. "Kitty ...." Hatter frowned and tried to do a backstroke through his floating mind. "Is the hotel in Wonderland? It's very like Wonderland, with its games and confusion." He liked the hotel, it was always different, he noticed that when he went walking, the doors changed.
