Re: Corner Couch: Jason/Banner
"Might be that," Jason said, willing to admit there was enough unspoken similarity between them that it could make some kind of sense. "What, you don't like the weather? Football?" He tilted his head. "I never got the football thing. Guess I had other shit to worry about as a kid, and nobody wanted to play catch."
Jason chuckled. "I can see that," he said, appreciative of the image, able to render it in his head with a good amount of accuracy. "I wish I had." He glanced behind them at the clusters of people, many of whom seemed effortless in their efforts to mingle. "Attempting, that's such a positive way to put it. I don't know, a lot of them look like they're having fun, like normal people are supposed to at parties." He looked back at Bruce, bemused and skeptical. "You say that like you being here and them being there is the reason the party is working. I don't think you can take it down all on your own, Bruce."
He sobered a little when Bruce gave his due and adieu to Betty, looking into his drink again for a moment. "Yeah." The closest analogy he could come to in his own life was Kara, and nothing had ever even really happened between them. There were no great loves in his life to mourn. He hadn't been alive long enough before dying the first time for that, and ever since then, people seemed to have the sense to steer clear. Good on them.
He cracked a smile, though, when Bruce mentioned Selina. "She's definitely something, is our girl. Where is she, anyway?" He looked over his shoulder, but he couldn't pick her out of the crowd.
