Re: TWD, Woodbury: Clem/Graham
She wanted to live plenty. She wasn't a woman made for death wishing, and she wanted to make it out of this hell in one full piece, and she was damn sure she wanted it more than anyone here. There wasn't any sorrow that kept her up nights wanting to die. She had nightmares a'plenty, but none of them were death wishes. Maybe that made her wicked and selfish, because she'd done plenty in her life that warranted that kind of sacrifice, but that just wasn't her. Just like zombies weren't her neither.
His comment about the beard made her smile. "Does make you look real young without it. You always looked younger than Lore," she mused. Men did that, aged better than women did. Women did a whole lot of correcting to fix that along the way, with make-up and surgery, but it was just natural. Her momma had fussed over it since she and Lore were just small the things, how important it was to keep looking as good as whoever was holding onto your arm. Lore hadn't paid much attention to that kind of talk, but Clem always had.
She watched as his attention turned back to the window, and she leaned back against the sill more and looked at his face as he went on. "I think I'm real content not to question. If they aren't the best folks, what does it matter so long as we're safe?" she admitted, and then she smiled all aggravated at him, but with a whole lot of fond tossed in. "But if you're worrying, I'll keep my eyes open some, even if I love the hot showers like you wouldn't be believing." Shane was right about her in a lot of ways, most ways. If it was just her here, she'd wind that Governor round her finger and sleep on soft beds until Jude managed to find a way to get her out. But Graham being around changed things some for her.
His question about the mall made her turn and look out the window. "Jake's here," she said, easy and fast. If the boy hadn't talked to his daddy yet it wasn't her fault. She'd given him plenty of warning that she wasn't going to keep that secret much longer. "I told him about the mall, and the boy's never going to talk to me again, I reckon. At least not until the holidays." She looked back at him. "You going to do the same if I tell you?"
