TWD, Woodbury: Clem/Graham
On paper, Woodbury was an oasis in the desert. A safe haven in the midst of a chaotic post-apocalyptic wasteland. After fleeing the overrun prison they were fortunate to find someplace defended, someplace with people and food and shelter. And they were fortunate, too, to be allowed entrance. The man who called himself the Governor had been polite, had welcomed them in and extended his hospitality; oh, yes, on the surface it all seemed to be exactly what they were looking for.
But in life, Graham had learned a few hard lessons, and when something seemed too good to be true, well, it usually was.
He didn't like that they'd had to surrender their weapons. He didn't like that they were being watched, even if it made sense, and he didn't like that their freedom seemed a facade and nothing more. Maybe he was just paranoid. No, he was paranoid. But he didn't think he was wrong, either. And who the hell called themselves the Governor anyway? He had his perfect little town, with its walls and rules, but he didn't trust a damn thing. He was just glad he had Shane, because he was sure his friend was just as wary about the situation. The dead weren't the only dangerous ones, and he didn't trust easy, if at all.
But he kept his mouth shut, at least for now. He could play a part, too, polite and civil while keeping his eyes open all the while. Exploring was out of the question, at least just then, so Graham opted to stay inside instead. He'd showered, sure, because he couldn't walk around coated in blood and gristle, and he'd shaved some, and he accepted the clothes provided for him. Brown pants, belt, and a button up shirt he rolled up the sleeves of, and he'd go looking for Shane later.
Arms folded over his chest as he stared out the window, watching the street below, he had the look of a man waiting for the other shoe to drop. He turned at the sound of her voice, some of the tension in his shoulders fading, his scowl relaxing. "Can't be too careful." His gaze turned searching, looking her over for injuries or the like. "You okay?"
