Re: clem rescue - graham/shane/jack/clem
[Jack had seen something of the layout of the prison as he cut his way through it the first time around, and even if he hadn't, his sense of direction had gotten pretty good lately. The way out, it seemed, was going to be through, past double doors penetrated with the sound of the dead.
He seemed undaunted, however, moving quickly. He didn't know that there ought to be people here, aside from the faintest whiff of something recently living. He didn't know that they had expected to find safety, to find home. They needed to get out of this place, and they couldn't go back. The way out was going to be through.
He pushed through the double doors and surged ahead. Perhaps he couldn't clear the room, not on his own, but he could draw attention by being the most violent and covered in blood, attracting the walkers like flies. He drew the bulk of them off and did not fall, slicing through like treading water, just fighting to stay upright and stable, plunging claws through clouded eyes and crushing soft skulls with his bare hands.
With Graham and Shane there as well, it was enough, just. That was all it had to be. By the time they cleared C Block he hardly even looked human, like a viking berserker, splashed in black and red and yellow and green. There was no stopping to rest, only plunging out toward the exit.]
