Carefully, she crossed her hands in her lap and leaned back with her weight on her thighs. The action gave her a certain measure of comfort, easing her into a pose full of feminine capability. She had this. She was fine. Whatever happened, she could handle it, and it didn't matter that her little chair was a boat adrift in a sea of shattered china and upturned furniture.
"Something nice. At least if you're thinking about nice things, we're not all going to fall apart. Are you thinking it? Good. Now just... pull up a chair. Take a breath. I'll order more tea."
Daintily, she put out one tall heel and nudged a chair that was lying to one side, abandoned. "You can flip this table up too, and we can sit there." Again without losing her chair, she nudged some of the broken china to one side, out of her own immediate area.
