He was immediately apologetic. "Sorry!" Just out loud this time. No testing out this guy's crazy powers, lesson learned. Trying to suppress them was a much better option. He was beginning to think he should just leave the girl alone, find somewhere quiet and try to keep himself away from people until this was over and he went back to his nice, uncomplicated body, and he took a couple steps back. Away. It was the start of a retreat, but then he stopped.
She was sitting. Okay. He watched, not quite comprehending why, but it was enough to get him to stay. And it was a distraction, too, which meant he didn't panic for a full twenty seconds.
"Something nice?" That should have been easy. His eyes scrunched up as he tried to think... and he settled on his family. That was the nicest thing he could think of. "Okay. Just focus on that? The something nice?"
